Do you think it is possible to be a part of the happiness God experiences? Ask this question, how is it you bring happiness to your own fathers heart. We do it by demonstrating trust and obedience. C.S. Lewis puts it this way.“To please God… to be a real ingredient in the divine happiness… to be loved by God, not merely pitied, but delighted in as an artist delights in his work or a father in a son- it seems impossible, a weight or burden of glory which our thoughts can hardly sustain. But so it is.” ? C.S. Lewis, The Weight of Glory

The only person that isn't affected by the pains and problems in this world is a dead person. It is natural for us to worry, but Paul calls us to put those worries and cares in the hands of God. "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Experience the peace He offers when you die to self and let Him rule your affairs.

Paul tells us in 2 corinthians 4:4.“In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” What are we doing to counter the enemy of our soul? Do we just idly stand by while he mugs the unbeliever or do we enter into the fray with the power of the Holy Spirit to open eyes to the truth of the Gospel?

While we live in a great nation, a place a relative peace and safety, there is a better place for us to look forward to. We are citizens of the kingdom of heaven where we await a new and glorious body, and a city whose builder and maker is God. But while we wait for Him to come and take us to that place, we are to tell as many as we can that the invitation is open to any who would put their trust in Christ.

Everybody has a mentor: someone to look up to and seek to emulate. In Philippians 3:17 Paul is asking us to emulate him, and be the kind of Christian he is. But our ambitions as Christians should extend beyond emulating Paul, we should look to be the kind of Christian others should be able to imitate. Our you the kind of Christian others should follow?

So often we look at what we must sacrifice as Christians, rather than what we gain. But stop to consider the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus. Consider Jim Elliot's words "He is no fool who gives up that which he cannot keep in order to gain that which he cannot loose."

Look to Jesus, the author and the perfecter of our faith. We trust Him for salvation. Now we need to trust Him to complete our salvation. He didn't save us to leave us alone, He saved us to bring us to a perfect place of fellowship with the Father. Rest in His work.

God rescued us while we were helpless. But it goes beyond a simple rescue of someone in need. God rescued us while we were His enemies. Paul tells us in Romans 5 that "God demonstrated His love for us in this, that while we were still sinners He sent His Son to die for us." Are you grateful for what He has done? And are you willing to tell others what He has done for them?

Toward the end of Paul's life, there were few men he could count on to do ministry they way he did. Timothy and Apaphroditus were two of those men. Their hearts reflected his in that they had considered the work of Christ to be more important than their own ambitions or comfort. They had followed the call of Christ to leave everything and follow Him.
